Arnold Lee Leftwich was born in Beckley, WV on August 5, 1952. He attended public schools and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1970.

Lee received his Associate in Science degree in 1977 from Beckley College and on May 14, 2002, he received his Bachelor in Science degree in Organization Leadership, Management and Development from Mountain State University.

Lee was one of the founding fathers of the MUSTER Project that was started in 1990. He was the spokesperson from 1990-1995, was Board Chairman from 1995-1997 and has been the Program Director since 1997. 

Lee has twenty-six (26) years of employment in the Engineering field consisting of Structural, Civil, Mechanical and Architectural with designing, drafting, proposal, supervising of practices, feasibility and research projects. He has worked for Bays Engineering, WV State Fire Marshal, Swanson and Associates, G. A. Tice Engineering, The Daniels Engineering Company, Envirotech Coal Services, Holley, Kenny, Schott Engineering and the USDA Soil Conservation Service.

He has instructor certification in the following areas: Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI), Youth Education in Shoplifting (YES), Preparing for the Drug-Free Years, Project toward No Drug Abuse, ALL STARS, and Life Skills Training. Lee has conducted training and workshops for Positive Adolescent Choice Training (PACT), CPI, Preparing for the Drug-Free Years, Building Assets for Youth, and the YES programs. 

He has attended workshops for Mentoring, JJDP Technical Assistance, Procedure for Grant reporting DCJS, Drug Addiction Fact and Myth, Prevention Intervention Summit II-Government Task Force, The National Center For Community Education After School Program, Pathway to Juvenile Detention Reform, Nonprofit Leadership in the 21st Century, Building Assets for Youth, National Juvenile Detention Conference, Tobacco Prevention Conference, Share the Vision, and Project Toward No Drug Abuse.

Lee is serving on the Governor’s Committee on Crime Delinquency and Corrections and Youth Investment Development State Team. He is a committee member of the Raleigh County School Student Handbook, Raleigh County Safe School, Raleigh County School Attendance Policy, United Way of Southern WV, WVU Extension Service, Mountain State University Social Workers, Beckley-Stratton Local School Improvement Council, Raleigh County Youth Coalition and the Family Resource Network.

Lee has received accreditations from Project Toward No Drug Abuse, Share the Vision, Preparing for the Drug Free Years, Life Skill Training, Strategies and Techniques for Dealing with most Difficult to Manage Students, Stress Management, After School Program the National Center for Community Education, Alcohol Tobacco and Drug Abuse Conference, Grantsmanship Training Program, Information Processing Intro to Computers and Review for Inspector National Fire Academy.

Lee’s hobbies are tennis, photography, painting, drawing, chess, reading the Bible and resource books and listening to gospel and jazz music.

Lee has received the following community awards: D. F. McCall-Johnson Community Service Award, WWNR Radio/Crossroads Mall Citizenship Award, Appreciation Raleigh County Coalition of KIDS Count, WV Public Television Festival ‘98 award, City of Beckley Individual for Increase Awareness in Black History Month, Community Leadership, Unselfish and Outstanding award, Outstanding Leadership Award – LINKS, Stratton Elementary Appreciation of Service and United Way of Southern WV Volunteer Award.

Lee has volunteered for Habitat for Humanities, Kids Count - playground equipment for homeless shelter, organized several community clean-up campaigns, Kids Classic, YMCA International Food Culture events, summer feed programs and Make It Shine clean-up campaigns.

Lee Leftwich resides in the city of Beckley, WV.
