The Beckley Events Committee is now accepting vendor booth applications for several upcoming events including the Appalachian Festival Block Party in August and Beckley’s Kids Classic Festival in September.
The Appalachian Festival Block Party will be held on Saturday, August 24 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in downtown Beckley. Part of the Appalachian Festival, the festive block party features local food vendors and entertainment including the New River Jazz Band, Shane Ingram, The Lilly Mountaineers, and Major Paradigm. Local restaurants and organizations are invited to set up a booth and sell samples of cuisine. It is recommended that items are priced at a discount so that attendees have an opportunity to sample several dishes. According to the City’s Event Director Jill Moorefield, “It is a great way to reach hundreds, promote your establishment, and if you are judged as the best in any of the competition categories, you’ll receive a certificate to display.” Competition categories include best appetizer, entrée, sandwich, dessert, most attractive booth, and the Peoples’ Choice. Vendors need to be registered by August 8 and follow Health Department rules.
Beckley’s annual Kids Classic Festival is scheduled September 2– 8. Baby-related vendors are invited to set-up at the Baby Fair held at Word Park on September 6, 11 am – 1 pm. The Kids Street Fair features booths with information, food and games for children on Saturday, September 7 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Bands, sports teams, cheerleaders, dance teams, churches, and youth-related groups and businesses are invited to be in the 11 a.m. parade or set-up a booth, offer a demonstration, or sponsor the festival or a game at the United arcade. This year’s theme is “What’s Your Story” The theme ties into the Youth Museum’s “Storyland” exhibit. For vendor or parade registration forms, contact Beckley Events at 304-256-1776 or email email@example.com or visit www.beckley.org and click on “Beckley Events”.
Moorefield says, “The Appalachian Festival and Kids Classic Festival have become traditions in our community and we are excited to see the community come together to celebrate. People are starting to request Chili Night information as well. We will begin accepting the Chili Night applications in August – the registration form for the October 5 event will be available on the city’s website around August 10.”
