2022 Beckley Events – The events of this list are organized by Beckley Events’ Committee. For additional community events, check out the Chamber’s Community Calendar at Beckley.Events, or the tourism event listing at raleighcountyevents.com. January 14-15 – Attended WV Fairs and Festivals Convention in Charleston
April 23 – Beckley’s Coffee and Tea Celebration – various coffee and tea vendors along downtown streets and in businesses, plus music and activities. 11 am – 2 pm. Music by Jim Synder, Kate Lett, Verdeant, JC Square, and Beckley Art Center students.
May – Rhododendron Festival – A variety of events held during the month of May. Includes:
May 14 – Rhododendron Festival Pickleball Tournament, New River Park, Info: 304-673-8390
May 14 – Sweet Treats dessert event and Emergency Preparedness Fair, 11 am – 1 pm, followed by the Bill Withers Memorial Festival with an afternoon of concerts 1-7 pm, at the Beckley Intermodal Gateway Plaza
May 14 – Rhododendron-themed Painting Class at the Raleigh County Library, noon
May 16 – Sunset/Full Moon Ride/Walk, McManus Trail, monthly bike ride/walk with Active SWV
May 22 – Rhododendron Cruise to Grandview (line-up at Perry UMC 3-3:30 pm); plus, group rhododendron walks with a park ranger at Grandview, 3 & 4 pm
May 28 – RhodoBoogie & Car Show, 5-8 pm, Beckley Intermodal Gateway, music by JonBen Slate …
Plus, several other festival events.
June – August – Fridays in the Park concert series at Word Park, 11:30am–1:00pm
June 18 – AACA (Antique Automobile Club of America) National Car Show – the City of Beckley is pleased to assist the local AACA Club in hosting this National Car Show which will bring over 100 classy vehicles to town.
July 4 – Annual 4th of July Fireworks held at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center, 9:30 pm.
July 30 – Annual Summer Car & Bike Show, Word Park and along Neville & Main Streets, 5-8 pm
Mid-August – WVU Tech Welcome Event for students and staff
August 20 – Honey Festival at the Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine
August 20-27 – Appalachian Festival – a variety of events featured around town.
August 27 – Appalachian Festival Street Fair – in conjunction with the Appalachian Festival, the street fair spans Neville to Main Street and features a variety of food and other vendors, plus several bands, including the New River Jazz Band.
September 5-11 (Labor Day to the following weekend) – Kids Classic Festival – variety of family-friendly activities at several locations thru the week: Opens with Cincinnati Circus at New River Park on Labor Day; also includes the Kids Street Fair & parade downtown on Saturday the 10th.
October 1 – Chili Night – chili and non-chili vendors, several stages of entertainment and Myers Amusements’ mini-carnival.
October 20-31 – Scarecrow Decorating Contest
November 11 – Veterans Day Parade & Celebration, 11am, followed by school bands performing after the parade at the Beckley Intermodal Gateway Plaza.
December 3 – Annual Christmas Parade & activities, 11 am
The Beckley Exhibition Mine/Youth Museum and Black Knight will feature events throughout the year as well, such as the Honey Festival on August 20 and Coal Town Christmas & ice-skating Nov. 25-26, & Dec. 2-3).
