Sherrie A. Hunter serves as the Director of Education for the Raleigh County Solid Waste Authority. Her responsibilities include educating students and the public regarding the infrastructure of the landfill, developing marketing campaigns emphasizing anti-littering and positive aspects of clean communities. Hunter was tasked with starting the School Recycling Program which began in 2001, which is now regarded as a leader in school recycling.

Hunter serves as Co-chair for the Association of WV Solid Waste Authorities and is Co-Chair for Raleigh County…Make It Shine and is a trained affiliate for Keep America Beautiful. She serves as treasurer for Mac’s Toy Fund and chairs the local National day of Prayer Bible reading in Beckley and was Campaign Chair of the United Way Southern West Virginia during the 2014-2015.

Hunter is a former member of the Catholic Diocesan School Board for the Diocese of Wheeling/Charleston and is a member of the Raleigh County Democratic Executive Committee.

Mrs. Hunter and her husband of thirty seven years, David, are the proud parents of two adult daughters and the doting grandparents of four precious grandchildren. She and her husband are members of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Beckley, WV.
