I Feel: Understanding Emotions Together
August 26 – December 31, 2015
This exhibit fulfills an important need in the community by helping young children recognize and cope with their feelings, and by helping parents and caregivers better understand the inner emotional life of children.
The fun begins at the I Feel Jealous station, where children can celebrate a birthday party with friends and family. Wear fun party hats as they choose to have a celebration with cake or ice cream. Face your fears as you race down a slide in the I Feel Scared station or when you visit the doctor at the hospital in I Feel Worried. Help Care About Others in the veterinary hospital. Your child can dress up like a veterinary as they care for both household pets as well as more exotic animals.
While the main purpose of I Feel: Understanding Emotions Together is to help young children recognize and cope with their feelings, and to help parents and caregivers better understand the inner emotional life of children, the many ‘extras’ help provide a dramatic, immersive environment in which parents can initiate dialogue with their child about emotions through hands-on play.
