The Beckley Municipal Court is located in uptown Beckley on Prince Street in the old Beckley Police Department Building, and is open Monday through Friday 8am to 4pm (except for legal holidays).

Our mission is to provide a forum for the fair and impartial adjudication of Beckley Municipal Code violations and West Virginia State Code violations; to resolve these cases rapidly and efficiently in an environment that is safe for all concerned. We will do this in a manner which promotes and upholds the integrity and independence of the judge, thereby maximizing the community’s confidence in the court.

What We Do
The Beckley Municipal Court is a limited jurisdiction court which deals exclusively with cases involving city ordinance violations. Offenses brought before our Municipal Court are those that occur within the limits of the City of Beckley. Examples of violations handled in Municipal Court are: traffic, assault and battery, disorderly conduct, vandalism, loitering, theft, shoplifting, building code and fire code.
Fines and Payments
You can mail your copy of the citation, with your plea information completed on the back. Payment can be mailed in the form of check, money order or cashier’s check. You may pay with a credit or debit card only in person with state issued identification. Please do not send credit card information or cash by mail.
On all non-traffic related charges, you must first appear before the judge to enter a plea. You may deliver payment to the Court in the following ways.
- Bring your payment in person.
- Mail your payment to the address below.
Make your check or money order payable to the City of Beckley in the full amount due. Please include your telephone number with your payment so we may contact you in the event we require further information or there is a problem with your payment.WE CANNOT ACCEPT PARTIAL PAYMENTS UNLESS YOU ARE PLACED ON A PAYMENT PLAN BY A MUNCIPAL COURT JUDGE.
Court Trials
If you request a trial and require a witness subpoenaed, you may complete our Witness Subpoena Request Form, and mail it to the address listed below. Please make sure this is mailed to enable the form to be received by our Court at least two (2) weeks prior to your trial date.
