Beckley’s Board of Public Works employs 54 hardworking and skilled men and women dedicated to performing multiple types of maintenance tasks including, but not limited to, street paving, patching, street sweeping, cutting rights of way and snow removal along 520 streets. The Board of Public Works is also tasked with maintaining the 3.62-mile McManus Rail Trail as well as all city parks, fountains, two swimming pools, a water slide and the newly acquired Historic Black Knight Municipal Park.
Public Works also performs new construction and demolition of dilapidated structures, in addition to providing Beckley’s citizens with a bi-weekly curbside recycling pick up, an annual curbside spring cleanup and a fall leaf pickup.
All these services are geared toward helping Beckley continue to look like “The City of Champions.”
