Point-of-Sale System
For the Exhibition Coal Mine, BITS has implemented a new, digital point-of-sale and inventory tracking system for ticketing as well as gift shop item purchases. The Exhibition Mine is now equipped with 3 computers from which tour tickets, gift items, and fudge shop sales are made. This system allows for a more efficient method of inventory tracking as well as increased convenience for customers, who are given the opportunity to pay with a variety of popular credit cards.
Digital Signage System
The Exhibition Coal Mine is constantly looking for innovative methods of telling the story of West Virginia’s rich coal mining heritage. In 2012, a new digital signage system was installed at the mine car loading area, displaying to visitors a custom video explaining the history and importance of coal mining to the area and the state of West Virginia.
Video Security
As with any major attraction, security is an important aspect of the visitor experience at the Exhibition Coal Mine. BITS has installed and maintains six video cameras around the Exhibition Mine property, which record to a central DVR system and are monitored to ensure that the Exhibition Mine remains a safe and family-friendly destination.
